International Programs

We are a local Martial Arts Community with a lot of international experience and friends. We know that many Internationals in Pécs struggle finding high quality training options and connecting to local communities due to cultural differences and language barriers. Our Martials Center provides Regular and Private classes in English in 3 different Martial Arts, and a welcoming experience for people from all around the world.

Seibukan Jujutsu

Inner Harmony and Self Defense

Seibukan Jujutsu is a modernized martial art that helps you to explore your inner potentials through the four natural elements: Fire, Water, Eath, Wind.

From the most fundamental movements (like breakfalls, punches, and kicks) to the more advanced ones (like joint locks, throws and chokes), you can learn a wide spectrum of close combat techniques that can give you a reliable self defense knowledge and also a lot of fun to practice. Furthermore, applying the four different elements in your techniques is where you can start revealing their features within yourself and bringing them together to create your inner harmony. This is the uniqueness of Seibukan Jujutsu.

You can also learn the handling of several weapons (staves, knives, swords, etc.) for developing more stamina, dexterity, and a strong basis for the higher levels where we practice their defensive applications and element-based forms.

Seibukan Jujutsu is for you if you seek a dynamic and effective martial art and an inner journey towards harmony.

Ninjutsu

The Secret Art of the Ninja

Ninjutsu is a unique art, combining the universal elements of close combat with the secret techniques and approach of japanese indirect warfare agents, the Ninjas.

Similarly to Jujutsu and some other styles, Ninjutsu starts with the fundamentals, like breakfalls, punches, and kicks, then advances to joint locks, throws and chokes, to give you a strong basis to work from. Only then that we can start to explore the real essence of Ninjutsu: using distractions and deception, targeting the weak points, utilizing the environment, using hidden weapons and tools, and conditioning the whole body for agility and strength, making ourselves a living human weapon. This method of training can make you a very versatile warrior who can take on most self defense situations and combat scenairos.

Ninjutsu also utilizes a wide variety of tools and weapons to improve the odds of success in a fight. We start to lay down the foundations of weapon handling at the very beginning of our training, and our principle-based approach lets us to develop a comprehensive understanding and practical capability of armed combat.

Ninjutsu is the best choice if want to explore the full spectrum of close combat and the universal principles behind them.

Battojutsu

Authentic Samurai Swordsmanship

Battojutsu is a traditional martial art of drawing and using the Katana in a swift and precise way, to become a versatile and capable swordsman.

Like in most sword-styles, the focus is on the proper way of doing each move before it can get more dynamic. Next we can increase the speed and power to make the moves more realistic and applicable. Finally, we can combine them together and even add some spontaneity to simulate an actual swordfight.

This style also stands out with it’s unique perspective of utilizing the sword as a multifunctional weapon, using not only the blade for cutting but the handle, the crossguard, and even the scabbard too in various attacking and defending techniques.

Our training consists of three types of exercise:
Kata – Individual pre-arranged forms with Iaito (practice sword) to perfect the moves
Kumitachi – Practical applications with a training partner, both using Bokken (wooden sword) to learn the principles of timing, distancing, and resistance.
Tamashigiri – Cutting targets with a Shinken (a real sharp Katana)

Battojutsu is good opportunity for those who want to master the Katana in a comprehensive and versatile way, or just want to train without too much contact.

Questions and Answers

Internationals have the same options as locals or anyone else:

Regular classes: Since most of our students are locals, we hold our main scheduled classes in Hungarian as long as everybody understands it. Luckily we are fluent in English, so we can tell you all the instructions, comments and explanations in English as well. However, keep in mind that many of the words we use (commands, directions, technique names, etc.) are spoken in Japanese, so eventually everybody has to learn them anyways. We think this is the best option for anyone, regarding the variety of training partners, the dynamics and atmosphere of the class, and the overall feeling of being an active part of the community.

Solo or Group Private Classes: Private Classes are not in the regular schedule but arranged independently with one or more students who want to attend them, and they will get the exclusive attention of the instructor for that time. This is a good opportunity if you are unable or unwilling to participate in the regular classes, or if you do attend them but you want to supplement your training and enhance your progression in your choosen martial art. Private Classes are held whenever it is suitable for both the student and the instructor. Private Group Classes are the same but with 2 or more students at the same time, typically when both of you are preparing for the same belt exam, or when you just want to train and progress together with your friend(s).

If you are interested in one (or more) of our programs, fill the contact form below or contact us via phone, email, or facebook. After that you can visit any of our classes as a spectator or you can choose to join our training session as a one-time free „try-out class”, to experience it and see if this is what you are looking for.

During the first few weeks some comfortable sweat-pants, T-shirt and a pair of fresh socks are enough. Later you will need the proper training clothes for safe and effective training but we can help you with getting the right one in size, quality and price.

Anyone can visit our classes as a spectator but stepping onto the mat and joining the training is only allowed to the members of Zenshin Martial Arts Center and those new applicants who filled the application form before the class. Notify us at least 24 hours before the class you wish to attend, so we can welcome you properly.

The class you’ll be joining will be a totally regular, average class, so it will be representative to how we usually train. You should arrive at least 30 minutes before class so that we can welcome you properly. If you choose to join us on the mat and try out the class, an experienced student will show you some basic moves for an easier start. During the training session you will encounter an extensive amount of new information, so it’s best to focus on the basics and the overall feeling. After the class we can discuss your questions and the further details. If you feel that you wish to attend to our classes regularly, you can sign up right away or you can contact us later.

We have the following number of classes per week:

3 x 1,5 hours  for  Seibukan Jujutsu
3 x 1,5 hours  for  Ninjutsu
2 x 1 hours     for  Battojutsu

All classes have an open time before and after session (about 20-30min each) when our students are free to practice whatever they want (within reasonable limits).

We also have Free Saturday Trainings each week where students have 3-4 hours of open time to learn, practice and socialize in the Dojo.
